Emily Garcia, OTD OTR/L

Emily received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University and her doctorate in occupational therapy from Creighton University. Having the opportunity to work internationally with Amy Zier & Associates in Italy to learn more about the DIR model, her passion and desire to work with children grew. Emily says that “being able to return to Amy Zier & Associates as a therapist is a dream!”

Emily’s inspiration to become an occupational therapist stemmed from her experience with her autistic cousin. Her cousin’s therapist guided Emily’s aspirations of becoming a physical therapist to OT. Her favorite thing about being a Pediatric OT is allowing her inner child out and getting to make silly faces and funny noises without a care in the world. Knowing she is allowing others to grow in their own story and making just a small impact on a bigger growth is deeply rewarding for Emily in her work as an OT.

Emily was born and raised on the NW side of Chicago. When she’s not spending time with family and friends, she enjoys traveling, outdoor adventures such as hiking, kayaking, and trying out local hot spots. She also volunteers at BraveHearts, an equine-assisted facility. Emily is energetic and always ready to try new things! She’s eager to put energy into building relationships with clients and their families to allow them to thrive while having fun because play is an important part of development!

When she was young, Emily thought she might be a CSI Investigator and then perhaps a nurse because she’s always wanted to help people in some way. Mission accomplished, Emily! We love how you help AZ+A families each day.
