Jessie attended the University of Iowa, majoring in Health and Human Physiology with minors in Psychology and Spanish and a Certificate in Disability Studies. While she was in Iowa City, she was the Morale Captain & Sponsorship Chair for Dance Marathon (an organization supporting pediatric cancer patients). Student mentor for young adults with intellectual disabilities (REACH Program). She went on to attend the Master of Occupational Therapy program at Elmhurst College.
The day she learned about OT was the day she knew it was her dream profession.OT combines physical and mental health, is unique and individualized for each patient, can be applied to any demographic, and is so versatile! Jessie’s personality is a natural fit for pediatric occupational therapy as she loves bringing creativity and fun into each session!
In her free time, you can find her swimming, biking, and running along the lake in preparation for a half-Ironman race. Jessie also participates in many summer sports in Chicago, including softball, volleyball, kickball. The greatest experience of her life was backpacking alone through Southeast Asia for 6 weeks. She is waiting for the day she can return to Vietnam, but her next destination is to spend a few months traveling through South America. Is professional backpacking a real job? If so, that’s what Jessie might be if not for OT!
Jessie also loves making pizza, getting crafty with stationery, and writing song parodies about my friends.
